Cell Phone Policy
STUDENT CELL PHONES / SMARTWATCHES
We strongly discourage students bringing cell phones/smartwatches to school. If there is an emergency at school, parents will be directly contacted by school officials. If students choose to bring these items to school, the following cell phone policy will be enforced:
Cell phones, smartwatches, wireless earbuds and earphones, personally owned tablets and laptops, and any other device not issued by the district must be out of sight and turned off during the school day while students are in school buildings. Exceptions may be made for students for physical or mental health reason or as part of disability accommodation. Mapleton and Adventure are not responsible for the loss, theft, or destruction of devices at school.
Any violations of the above policy will result in the following:
First Offense -- The device will be held by the teacher until the end of the school day.
Second Offense -- The device will remain in the main office until the end of the school day.
Third Offense -- The device must be picked up by a parent or guardian.
Fourth Offense -- An individual contract will be created by school staff and families.
